40 Essential CSS Templates, Resources and Downloads

November 8, 2010 – 30 CommentsWritten by Paul Andrew

Every web developer should have in their toolbox a collection of CSS tools and resources like the ones outlined in this article. A set of techniques that you rely on and that are always at the ready to cover any possible eventuality.
You will find not a selection of the latest innovative CSS techniques (there are some) in this article, merely a collection of tools, resources and downloads that can be used by web designers for solutions to everyday CSS design and coding solutions.

The resources below have been split into four categories: CSS Download Packages (all of the CSS resources offer multiple variations of each technique), Downloadable CSS Tools (the resources within this category offers specialized templates), Web, Mobile & Form Frameworks (+ tools and templates to help you get started with each); Feature-Rich and Outstanding Mobile & Web Templates and finally, a selection of tools to help with cross browser compatibility.

We don’t presume that this is an ultimate collection, merely a selection of resources we have found to be indispensable. We are positive we have missed a few, and would love to hear about the tools and resources you rely upon.

Concept Cars – A Glance into the Future of Automobile Industry

Concept Cars – A Glance into the Future of Automobile Industry

  • by Pavol Janovicek

  • Today there are about 600 million passenger cars in the world. Can you imagine that 125 years ago there was only one motor vehicle, and between 1888 and 1893 there were only 25 lucky men in the world, who purchased the first cars, produced by Karl Benz? It goes without saying that modern cars differ greatly from those, produced at the dawn of automobile era. It took years to invent rubber tireswindshieldscar stereoABSturbo compressors, and many other common features of typical modern cars.

However, it is necessary to say that there have always been particular car models, which set the direction for the future car designand further development of automobile industry. They are called concept cars or prototypes. These cars have a very important and specific role – today they show us how cars will look tomorrow. Concept cars are always unique – not only because they are usually produced in one exemplar only, but also because such vehicles of tomorrow represent the most cutting edge and experimental concepts, technologies, and innovations, known to car makers at the given period of time. Concept cars reflect the state of the art in both functionality and design. Not only new engines and transmissions are first introduced at concept cars, but also novelties of the exterior and interior design. Have a look at the pictures below, and you’ll be able to feel the scent of the future. Cars, shown in this gallery, fascinate and attract with the ultimate style and unusual appearance. Concept cars truly can show the fusion of revolutionary technical innovations and the most progressive art trends.

30 Inspiring Niche Photography Websites to Explore

30 Inspiring Niche Photography Websites to Explore

January 25, 2011 – 14 CommentsWritten by Emma Egan

Photography is a vast and ever changing creative industry that is closely linked to graphic design. Everywhere we go we see photography on billboards, posters, websites and the news. Below are 30 inspiring photographer or photography related websites. Have a look at the best of advertising, photojournalism, wedding, manipulated photography, glamour & fashion photography websites.

These websites illustrate a variety of creative methods to present the same thing: photographers and their work. Photos (like designs) can often be inspiring themselves and the below websites do a brilliant job in representing photographers and presenting their work. They also highlight how different niches (within photography) use different web design to build credibility. For instance, when comparing wedding to photojournalism, the two styles of presenting that portfolio are chalk and cheese to cater for their respective target audiences (warm-hearted brides versus hard-nosed journalists). Remember, when designing (whether for the photography industry or another) design for the product, service or niche you are representing and its audience.

This week: A Shirakawa woodblock, a Buddhist building, Minimalist Shinto, a nice landscape, autumn leaf enlightenment, another Shinto scene, and… rice.

Oh, yes… another week, another name change. One of these weeks I’ll settle on a name I like—promise.

Now, on with the review.
